The new Portage Regional Health Centre began construction in 2023. This facility will allow patients access to health services and provide the care they need closer to home.
The new hospital is a two-storey 269,000sq/ft facility. The hospital will have 114 acute care inpatient beds; increased day surgery capacity to allow more procedures locally; enhanced spaces for programs such as diagnostics, palliative care, and outpatient services including lab and rehabilitation and a new Indigenous health services cultural space with a design informed by Indigenous partners.
The design was inspired the the shape of the crescent lake adjacent to the building site.
Abesco started on site in July 2023 and has fabricated and erected 1912 tonnes of steel for this project.
